History:
Andrea has always been involved with sports since a young age, growing up competing in swimming, soccer the longest and through high school added wrestling and discus/ javelin to the mix. With being a competitive athlete also came many injuries with her first ACL reconstruction in grade 10. While playing varsity soccer she had her second ACL reconstruction which led her down the path of training with a focus on injury prevention and recovery.
Andrea’s love of a challenge led her to try many sports and activities post College which included competing in Crossfit competitions, skydiving, Silks and Lyra with her biggest arch nemesis being handstands! She has the mentality of “challenge accepted!” which makes for many great stories.
Trainee Type:
Andrea’s client base over the years has been diverse ranging from athletes to gen pop to seniors. A common theme of most clients is to become pain-free and function better in life or sport. Recently she has worked with new moms to help get their strength and energy back postpartum. As much effort as you give in the gym, there will always be homework to do and that is a huge part of her training method, to help with accountability in and out of the gym! It takes a village and I am here to support you in reaching your goals! A holistic lifestyle approach.
Training Philosophy:
I believe in training for how you move, not just how you look. Strength and mobility are the foundations for a healthier, more functional life. My focus is on helping you build a body that moves freely and performs well in everyday activities. While aesthetics are important, true fitness is about how you feel and function—because life requires you to move, not just pose.
Favourite Exercise:
Too many to choose from! A controlled sit-through as it is a full body exercise incorporating core strength/control, shoulder stabilization and leg strength. This gets your body moving through planes of motion that are underused creating strength and control in commonly weak areas, to help prevent injury. Outside of that, mastering a handstand and all the work associated with it as I like to push outside the comfort zone!
